Andreas Schjelderup missed out on the Liga’s young player award for March after an age-based tie-break.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Benfica winger finished level with Famalicão captain Gustavo Sá on 20.41 per cent of the coaches’ vote.

Competition rules state that if votes are tied, the younger player takes the prize. Both were born in 2004, but Schjelderup is about five months older than the Portuguese midfielder.

The Norway youth international still impressed across the month, scoring twice, against Gil Vicente and Porto, and providing one assist against Arouca.

Victor Froholdt was third with 16.33 per cent.

The outcome highlights how fine margins can decide individual honours when voting is deadlocked.
