Manchester United have bolstered their attacking options this summer with a trio of high-profile stars who have transformed Ruben Amorim’s front line.

However, Amorim is still looking for extra quality in other areas of his squad and is hoping to add a midfielder to his ranks before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

A raft of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford with INEOS reportedly looking at multiple options after pulling out of negotiations for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

However, one man can now be chalked off the shortlist despite recent rumours.

Bundesliga star not on the shortlist this summer.

VFB Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller was a name highly touted by many but Sky Germany report those rumours as being “wide of the mark”, pouring cold water on any potential deal.

Florian Plettenberg says United have “not held any internal or external discussions” regarding the 24-year-old and have “no plans” to ignite a move for the player.

Stiller has emerged as one of the finest midfielders in the Bundesliga since his move to Stuttgart in 2023 and is now attracting interest from top clubs around Europe.

However, despite his undoubted talent, United do not believe he is the right fit for them at this time and will continue to pursue alternative targets.

Where does that leave United

With time ticking, INEOS are under pressure to make a decision on just who they see as the perfect choice to strengthen the midfield this summer.

It is believed their eyes are fixed on La Liga with Real Madrid superstar Eduardo Camavinga seen as the dream addition, while Sevilla man Lucien Agoumé represents a more economical option.

However, given the nature of the market and United’s need to sell, alternate names could spring up in the final days of the window as funds are released, or not, as the case may be.

After an impressive showing at Old Trafford that ultimately ended in defeat on the opening day, United travel to the capital this Sunday to face Fulham and will be hoping to get their season up and running with three points in West London.
