Angers have underlined that manager Alexandre Dujeux is tied down for two more years and that they want him to stay.
According to L'Équipe, Dujeux is on leave until early July after securing a second straight Ligue 1 survival, finishing 13th on 36 points. He did not attend Friday’s season debrief led by president Saïd Chabane alongside Jérôme Negroni and Laurent Boissier.
The 50-year-old has been considered by clubs such as Nice and Auxerre in recent months. His presence at the restart was raised during a Q&A, with Angers expressing a desire to keep him while accepting the club’s reputation as a springboard.
An option, triggered by safety in May, takes his deal to 2028. Any side wanting him would need to pay compensation, a point backed by Chabane.
Asked 10 days ago about his future, and now represented by an agency, Dujeux admitted he was reflecting on several factors, from the players to tactics, his messages and his own situation.
Those around him view such introspection as routine, and it does not mean he is focused solely on leaving this summer. Appointed in March 2023 after Abdel Bouhazama, he won immediate promotion, then trusted academy and post-academy talents like Sidiki Chérif and Estéban Lepaul. Angers, seeking liquidity with coffers almost entirely deprived of TV income, have twice improved his salary since he started, and a third rise could follow to settle the matter.
