The Spanish forward has rediscovered his spark in France, but Barcelona’s plan remains unchanged

On loan from FC Barcelona for the 2025/26 season, Ansu fati the 22 year old forward has hit the ground running at AS Monaco.
Fati has netted 6 goals in just 390 minutes across both Ligue 1 and the Champions League averaging incredible goal every 65 minute.
Fati's efficiency is most pronounced domesticall where he’s managed 5 goal in just 230 Ligue 1 minutes. Combined with his 1 goal in 160 minutes in Europe, the total paints a picture of player who has found his confidence and cutting edge.
Statisticians in France & England have confirmed the sensational start with some reports noting his league only goal rate is hovering around one goal every 42 minute during this explosive opening period.
This is striking transformation for player whose career had stalled after series of difficult injuries and testing loan spell at Brighton.
This run is now Fati’s best since the 2019 /20 seaso and crucially, it appears to be backed by solid underlying data.
Monaco’s own analysts point to expected goals (xG) conversion metrics that suggest this is genuine demonstration of efficiency not just lucky streak.
Fati has added strength to Monaco's attack which also boasts talents such as Takumi Minamino, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Maghnes Akliouche and Folarin Balogun. Fati is currently the club's top scorer.
However despite this impressive return, Spanish reports indicate that his parent club, Barcelon is in no rush to recall him and the Camp Nou sporting directors are not even considering an early return.
Fati's loan, which includes option to buy for Monaco was deliberate move by the Catalan club aimed at testing his overall strength and stability, away from the pressures of the Camp Nou administration & the wage bill.
Before this deal, Barcelona extended his contract until 2028 indicating the club's long term vision: that the loan is long term strategic solutio not quick fix for the team's problems.
