At the club's training camp in Saalfelden, Borussia Dortmund's Waldemar Anton answered questions during a media briefing.
The German centre-half touched on the squad's summer downtime and how he frames BVB's goals for the upcoming season.
“We managed our workload [over the summer period] well, even during the phase when we had a lot of games and not much time to recover.
"Even without a long break, we managed to come back fully recovered and are now going full throttle. Our batteries are recharged. You can see that in our training results.
“First and foremost, I want us to get off to a good start and for everyone to stay injury-free. I think that's the most important thing, because there are a lot of games to come.
"It will be important to take it one game at a time, keep a clear head, even in games, and perform together.
“We've shown in recent months that this is very, very important and a big factor. We're trying to achieve this in every training session,” he added.
After the 29-year-old touched on the hard work and fun the squad is having in pre-season, he briefly discussed Niko Kovač's tactical approaches.
“We want a lot of variability in our game. We want to play from the outside, sometimes through the center. We want to play forward quickly.
"We don't want to waste a lot of time. When the opportunity arises, we want to be able to cut the ball through so that as little time as possible is wasted.
“I think the most important thing for us this season is pressing, and we're training that very hard,” explained Anton, who is keen to take on a leadership role once again.
