According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Anton Stach hopes to return soon after suffering an ankle injury in Leeds United's penalty-shootout FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham. The midfielder will be checked this week ahead of Monday's trip to Manchester United.

Stach was hurt late in the first half after a heavy, late challenge from Max Kilman. He had seen an effort saved by Alphonse Areola before the contact, rolling his ankle. Referee Craig Pawson did not give a penalty and VAR judged it a natural coming together.

He received treatment, briefly returned, then was replaced by Brenden Aaronson. On Sunday he posted a photo of a swollen right ankle on Instagram with a caption dismissing suggestions he overplayed it. A Monday update featured a quirky edit, mention of Wembley next, thanks to fans and hope of being back soon.

Leeds led 1-0 at the time, controlling midfield through Stach and Ao Tanaka, who opened the scoring after sharp footwork. After Aaronson's introduction, control slipped and, despite going two up through a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty, they conceded twice in added time. The Whites won 4-2 on penalties, with Lucas Perri denying Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Felipe.

Daniel Farke expects a ligament issue and views Stach as a serious doubt for Manchester United, while stressing he hopes it is not severe and calling the German a key player. Joe Rodon also rolled an ankle after half-time and was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw. Noah Okafor went off with cramps after his recent hamstring lay-off.
