The Real Madrid dressing room found itself in utter chaos on Thursday when a fight broke out between midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni.

The incident, which escalated from a verbal spat on the pitch to a physical altercation in the dressing room, led to the Uruguayan being taken to the hospital and getting sidelined for two weeks with a head injury.

Real Madrid, for their part, have investigated the matter and hit the pair with hefty €500,000 fine each.

All this came in the backdrop of the Merengues preparing for Sunday’s El Clasico against FC Barcelona.

Arbeloa wants focus on Clasico

Given what has gone down at Valdebebas in the past couple of days, El Chiringuito TV reports that Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa had a strong message for the players today.

Before the start of training today, the Spanish tactician made to sure to impress on the squad that he wanted all their focus on Sunday’s game against Barcelona.

“We have a Clasico and that’s the only thing that should concern us,” was the manager’s emphatic message to the players.

The report adds that it was a complicated day at the training ground considering what had happened on Thursday, and naturally, a tense atmosphere prevailed for most of the session.

Nonetheless, the coaching staff members are said to have been happy with what they saw from the players during the session.

While Valverde was absent due to the head injury, Kylian Mbappe was able to complete the entire group session, taking a big step towards being ready for El Clasico.
