Arne Slot in fray to become next Milan manager | OneFootball

Serie A side Milan look all but set to miss out on Andoni Iraola to Liverpool. While Oliver Glasner has also emerged as a candidate to become their next manager, Arne Slot is also in the picture.

The Dutchman was sacked by the Reds earlier today and could now be replaced by the ex-Bournemouth manager. Milan held discussions with Iraola but appear set to miss out.

Sacha Tavolieri has now reported that it is Slot who is in the picture to become the next Milan boss. He is said to be the leading candidate and talks are already underway, with Ramon Planes the frontrunner to become their next sporting director and replace Igli Tare.

Deal won’t be bad at all

While this would shock many, Slot could be quite a credible option for Milan and considering his sack at Liverpool, his stock in the eyes of many has dropped. This isn’t true for Glasner or Iraola, who willingly departed their clubs.

Slot did face problems at Anfield – especially when it comes to out-of-possession setup but a lot of it was also down to the club’s poor recruitment. At Milan, he can have a chance of rebuilding his reputation back up quickly, using younger players and using his system to develop them. It will help both parties and make sure that Milan lay down the foundation of a tactical change from the very top.
