The Reds host Spurs knowing a strong performance could help restore momentum after the disappointing Champions League defeat to Galatasaray earlier this week.

However, Liverpool are still dealing with several injury concerns within the squad, including the continued absence of club-record signing Alexander Isak.

The Swedish international has been sidelined since undergoing surgery in December and remains some way from returning to first-team action.

Speaking on Friday morning at the AXA Training Centre (via Liverpoolfc.com), Slot confirmed the striker is still working away from the main squad.

The Liverpool manager said: “With the rehab team still and not with the team yet.”

That update suggests the Sweden international remains a long way from match fitness as he continues the recovery process.

Liverpool supporters have felt the impact of that absence this season, with the striker widely expected to play a major role following his big-money arrival at Anfield.

Positive news for Liverpool on Federico Chiesa

While the situation around Isak remains unchanged, Slot delivered more encouraging news regarding Federico Chiesa.

The Italian winger missed the trip to Istanbul due to illness but appears to be recovering in time to return to training.

Slot said: “I expect he feels better now because he felt unwell the day before the game and I think we’re now three or four further ahead.”

The Dutchman suggested that the 26-year-old could rejoin the group in training immediately.

He added: “So, I think he’s able to train with us today again.”

That would give Liverpool an additional attacking option heading into Sunday’s match against Tottenham, even if the Italy international is unlikely to start.

There was also an update provided on Alisson Becker from the boss.

Liverpool still waiting for Isak return

The continued absence of Isak remains a major talking point around the squad given how long the striker has been sidelined.

Earlier reports suggested Liverpool may have to wait until the final stages of the campaign before seeing the Sweden international back in action.

Sweden manager Graham Potter previously admitted he was still hopeful the forward might return in time for the March international fixtures.

Potter said: “Right now we’re just keeping our fingers crossed and hopefully we can get some of those guys back.”

For Liverpool, that timeline suggests the striker could potentially return in early April as the season reaches its decisive final weeks.

In the meantime, Slot will hope players like Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz continue carrying the attacking threat while the club waits for our injured No.9 to complete his recovery.
