Liverpool boss Arne Slot has warned the rest of the Premier League and Europe's elite that his side will only get better as the season reaches its climax.

Based upon the 4-0 drubbing the Reds dished out to Tottenham Hotspur in Thursday's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, there doesn't immediately seem to be much room for improvement.

The Merseyside giants will be favourites for that impending showpiece against Newcastle United, remain in the FA Cup and boast the best record in this season's Premier League and Champions League. However, Slot is adamant that the best is yet to come for his all-conquering outfit.

"There are two reasons why we become stronger," the Dutch coach told his post-match press conference on Thursday night. "First of all, if you play more often together you know better what is expected. So the first time I tell them how to bring the ball out from the back against a 7-9-11 press, they were maybe like: 'OK.' But the more times you face them, the more it becomes natural for you.

"The more games you play, the more team meetings you have, the more training sessions you have, the better they know what we expect from them and what to expect from each other.

"Second of all, I believe in the fact that the more games you play the physically stronger you become. Some people think you get tired but as long as you manage it well, the players will get stronger by playing a lot of games instead of getting tired."

Liverpool's only senior injury absentee is Trent Alexander-Arnold - although the right-back has a natural replacement in the form of Conor Bradley and is expected to be fit within the coming days.

Slot had the luxury of bringing on his World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, potent striker Diogo Jota, the youthful promise of Harvey Elliott and Luis Diaz - arguably Liverpool's second-best player this season behind Mohamed Salah.

When quizzed on the possibility of pulling off an unprecedented quadruple, Slot shrugged: "We are in a very good place. I'm not just talking about the results, but the players are fit and ready.

"We are in a good place but we also know how long the season still is and how many difficult challenges there will still be for us.

"I'm not expecting us to win every game like we did yesterday [4-0 against Tottenham], but that is also not what I ask of them. We just try to do everything to win every single football match."

The rest of the footballing world has been warned.
