Arrascaeta absent for Flamengo at Bragantino, has missed 53 per cent of meetings | OneFootball

Arrascaeta will sit out Flamengo’s trip to Bragantino on Thursday, continuing a trend that has seen him miss 53 per cent of meetings since their 2020 promotion to the top flight. According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder will be rested after returning from the international window with significant fatigue.

Guillermo Varela and Léo Pereira are also being protected, with the trio undergoing physiological tests on Thursday morning in Bragança Paulista.

Despite featuring less often than not against Bragantino, Arrascaeta’s record is strong. In six appearances he has four wins, one defeat and one draw, and he has scored two goals, including in last year’s meeting at the Maracanã.

He played in both of Uruguay’s friendlies during the break, logging 87 minutes against England and 90 against Algeria on Tuesday 31, the latter staged in Italy. The travel back to Brazil added to his workload, and he has not been named in the squad.

Without Arrascaeta, Flamengo face Bragantino at 21:30 Brasília time at the Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques in Bragança Paulista.
