‘ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!!

What a special night, so proud to have witnessed this tonight.

It’s not over yet but couldn’t have dreamed of taking a two goal lead back home.

We are playing football that is a joy to watch and we took it to them and came out victorious.

Tonight is a pinch me moment, can’t stop smiling :)’

‘Another win and this may be the most special and important of the lot.

Cannot wait for the Arsenal meltdown.

If that’s Dubravka’s last game for Newcastle then he’ll depart the way he arrived, starring with a clean sheet and victory against a horrible team in red.

The whole defence was outstanding.

We epitomised bravery and commitment.

Then we had the quality at the other end of the pitch with our star attackers nabbing a goal each.

Everyone will be keenly monitoring their emails for the second leg ballot results tomorrow.’

David Punton:

‘Immense. Simply immense.

It’s advantage United as Howe and his players pull off yet another stunning result.

Winning away at Arsenal with confidence and assurance showing on a ground we usually get hammered on.

This is a good Newcastle team. They’ve got class. They’ve got spirit.

We’re in dreamland at the moment.

The last half hour was a bit of a slog but you can’t ask for much more.

Credit to everyone in black and white.

It’s one foot in the final but a huge second leg still to come. It promises to be quite a night.’

GToon:

‘Epic, absolutely epic!

What a performance, what a team and what an attitude.

That was brilliant.

In over 50 years I’ve never seen us get results like this.

Manyoo, Villa, Spurs and now another vile club brushed aside.

What a time to be a Newcastle fan.

These lads are giving us everything now, just like Gordon said.

The commentary of that biased get Dixon and his mate were willing for them to score.

They deserved nothing and they got cleaned up.

Amazing.

And their centre half pairing will be having nightmares after facing Isak. Hilarious. Now let’s win something!’

Bazoox:

‘The Emirates was emptying after 70 minutes.

Arteta totally schooled by Eddie.

Why would Alexander Isak want to sign for a club like Arsenal that aren’t going to win anything?

A controlled display and we were clinical when it was required.

We now have one foot in our second League Cup Final in two years.

Eddie will make sure that complacency doesn’t creep in between now and the second leg at St James’ Park.

Good well taken goals, good game management and substitutions at the right time.

Arteta and Arsenal…..Really?’

Mark Jankowski:

‘What a performance.

We’ve had some big results against Arsenal the past few years but none bigger than tonight.

We’ve rolled into North London and delivered a masterclass.

Arsenal and Arteta can have absolutely nothing to complain about tonight either.

To a man we were magnificent.

Isak, Gordon, Tonali and Hall especially so.

We’re halfway there, let’s finish the job in February!

North London is black and white!’

Tony Mallabar:

‘That performance was definitely one for the ages.

Sometimes a picture can paint a thousand words.’

Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey:

‘One foot in the final?

You’d better believe it!

Not wanting to get too cocky, this tie is all but over.

We’d won our last six. They hadn’t lost since back to back away games at St James and the San Siro in early November. Something had to give and it was Lego Man who blinked. Twice.

Isak was unplayable first half especially and later set up Gordon for that all important second goal with a smart shot that Raya could only parry.

For all their possession, Arsenal didn’t put together any moves quite like the one that led to us taking that commanding lead.

To a man, everyone in a black and white shirt was outstanding.

So was Dubravka wearing all blue. If that’s his last game for us, he leaves on good terms and might just yet add another League Cup winners medal to the one he got from two years ago.

The way we defended in that second half, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were watching one of those Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid masterclasses, when they routinely reached Champions League Finals. Absolutely fantastic.

Tell me ma!’
