Arsenal youngsters Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri both made the starting lineup for England’s u21 qualifier away to Andorra on Friday, with the match representing Lewis-Skelly’s debut at that level.
Of course, Lewis-Skelly has already played for the England senior team, but he’d skipped to the first team from the u19s.
Friday’s match ended up being a tougher game than many might have expected, with Andorra taking the lead in the 52nd minute and England only eventually equalising through a penalty in the final seconds of the 90.
Though Tyler Dibling did miss a chance to make it 2-1 in injury time, England will still be disappointed to have been on the losing side for so long against an Andorra team with two wins and five defeats in their first seven qualifiers.

But Lewis-Skelly performed well on an individual basis, and this was only the first blot on England’s otherwise faultless u21 Euros qualification campaign.
The team had won five from five before this, and they remain top of the group ahead of Slovakia on goal difference, holding a game in hand on the second-place side.
Only first place is guaranteed a spot at the final tournament, but second would be enough to make the play-offs. England sit eight points clear of third with four games remaining.

In other news, Lewis-Skelly has been linked with an Arsenal exit this week, with Sky Sports News reporting that he’s one of a number of targets on Manchester United’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lewis-Skelly isn’t the only option, with United also considering the likes of Lewis Hall of Newcastle United and Nathaniel Brown of Eintracht Frankfurt. But despite Lewis-Skelly’s new contract signed at Arsenal last summer, he’s also reportedly in the mix.
For what it’s worth, Sky make no suggestion that Arsenal would be willing to let the player leave.
