Amario Cozier-Duberry was very highly regarded with Arsenal, often touted as a future alternative to Bukayo Saka in the first-team squad. But that’s not how it panned out, with Cozier-Duberry rejecting contract offers from the Gunners and signing for Brighton and Hove Albion instead.

Brighton quickly loaned the winger out to Championship side Blackburn Rovers, but the transition to senior football proved to be a tricky one. Cozier-Duberry scored just one goal in 23 games in 2024/25, assisting none.

Dropping down to League One with Bolton Wanderers this season, it’s been a completely different story for the 20-year-old.

Almost from his first game for Bolton, Cozier-Duberry has looked a lot more like the talented youngster breaking through in the Arsenal academy.

The former Gunner has five goals and four assists in his first 15 games in a Bolton shirt, as well as forcing a late own-goal equaliser against Lincoln City, but the manner of the goal contributions have made things even more impressive.

Last week, Cozier-Duberry assisted a goal in the 93rd minute and scored one in the 95th minute to complete a 2-1 comeback win over Huddersfield Town.

This week, the same player scored a 94th-minute curler against Cardiff City to win the match 1-0.

Bolton currently sit just outside the play-off places in large part thanks to Cozier-Duberry’s contributions, and he’s developing a reputation for popping up at the vital moment.

Four of Cozier-Duberry’s five goals for Bolton were in second-half injury time, as was that own goal he forced in the Lincoln City match.

The Arsenal academy graduate is shining for his loan side right now, and it looks like he’ll return to Brighton next summer ready to take another step forwards.
