In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Arsenal are among the clubs hoping to land former Manchester City defender John Stones, who is currently a free agent. It has been mentioned that the Gunners would have to compete with Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Everton in the race to land the English centre-back.

Stones’ Important Role At Man City

Stones was a solid presence at the back for the Mancunian club in the previous campaign, but struggled to earn regular first-team starts for them in the Premier League. The 32-year-old made 18 appearances for Man City last season across all competitions.

The English sensation is currently among the most experienced central defenders in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Gunners are in the mix to sign him this summer.

Stones loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can use his strong 1.88m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air.

The English talent is an accurate distributor of the ball and has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. Stones is primarily a centre-back but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as a right-back if told to do so. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Arsenal.
