In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Arsenal are in the mix to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer. It has been mentioned that the Gunners would have to compete with Liverpool in the race to sign the Spanish talent this off-season.

Williams’ Decent Numbers In La Liga

Williams managed to shine at times with his performances on the left side of Bilbao’s attack in the previous campaign. The 24-year-old scored six goals and secured seven assists in 32 matches for the Spanish outfit last season in all competitions.

The Spanish talent is currently among the most talented wingers in La Liga. Hence, it is no wonder that Arsenal have set their sights on signing the talented speedster this summer.

His current deal at the San Mames Stadium will expire in the summer of 2035. Therefore, the Gunners would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Williams in this transfer window.

What Will Williams Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?

Williams has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Spaniard can even shoot the ball with venom from long range. Williams mainly operates as a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to land him this summer.

Williams would add more pace and goals to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting role at the Emirates Stadium next season.

At 24, Williams has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to pursue in this transfer window. However, Arteta has to give him some time to settle into life at the North London club before he can get the best out of the player.
