Arsenal Back In The Race For The Franckfurt Star: Should They Make The Decisive Move?

Arsenal face a summer that could define their immediate future. After falling just short of glory in the Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, the north London club know they need that final push to compete at the highest level.

The inconsistent performance of their strikers have taken its toll at key moments. Despite the team’s collective quality, the lack of a reliable goalscorer was once again exposed. The sporting management is evaluating young, dynamic and hungry players. That is where the name of Hugo Ekitike comes into play.

Arsenal Back In The Race For Hugo Ekitike

According to a report by BILD cited by Sport Witness, Arsenal are interested in signing French striker Hugo Ekitike, although they will not be alone in the bidding. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also want the Eintracht Frankfurt forward, who is coming off an impressive campaign with 34 goal contributions in 2024/25.

Arsenal’s interest makes sense. Mikel Arteta wants to add a profile with speed, movement and finishing to the front line. Ekitike, with his ability to break lines and attack spaces, could be the player to transform the final third of the pitch into a constant threat. However, the price set by the German club is high: €100 million.

Opinion:

In our opinion, Arsenal should go all out for Ekitike. Yes, the price is high. But if they want to break through the glass ceiling and stop being the ‘almost’ team, they need to invest in attacking quality. Gabriel Jesus has not convinced as a goalscorer, and Havertz, although useful, is not a natural centre forward.

Ekitike would offer something different: pure attacking threat, intelligent movement and a nose for goal. Furthermore, his age fits in with the club’s policy. His speed and technique could complement Saka, Martinelli and Ødegaard well, creating fast and unbalancing combinations.

Can Arsenal beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United? They have arguments in their favour. They will participate in the Champions League, have a serious project and offer a more stable environment than their competitors. Chelsea are still in transition, Liverpool have doubts about their attack and United, still without a clear direction, are looking for urgent solutions. If Arsenal act quickly, they can win the race for Ekitike. They have the money, the prestige and the need. There are no excuses. If they really believe the Frenchman is the right man for the job, they must move now.
