Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is personally leading the drive for the Gunners to sign Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, according to talkSPORT.
The Emirates Stadium club are preparing for next season’s title defence and Arteta wants to lure the England international away from the Villa Park club.
The Arsenal target bagged 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions for the Villans this term as Unai Emery’s side won the Europa League title.
Villa value Rogers at a minimum of £80 million but a bidding war is likely to drive that price to around £100m.
The Gunners are not the only ones keen on the 23-year-old, with Chelsea and Manchester United also admirers.
Preliminary talks between Arsenal and the representatives of the Villa star have already taken place and are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have been linked with summer exits and Rogers is seen as an upgrade on them.
The attacker can play on both wings and through the middle, and more suitors are set to watch him at the World Cup with England next month.
Arsenal will be desperate to wrap up a deal for Rogers before the tournament, but Villa know an impressive outing from him for the Three Lions in North America will help them increase his value.
The Gunners could do with attacking upgrades heading into next season as they look to win the Premier League and Champions League next season.
Rogers fits the bill and signing him could be huge for Arsenal as they aim to establish themselves as heavyweights in England and Europe.
The North Londoners reportedly have funds in place to make a marquee signing and beat their club-record transfer this summer.
They are ready to rival the purchase of Declan Rice for a then-British record £105m in 2023, and it remains to be seen whether Rogers will be their man.
