Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is finalising his move to Arsenal this week.

The Gunners are signing the defensive midfielder to bolster their options in that area, with Norgaard providing competition and cover for new signing Martin Zubimendi.

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal’s move for Norgaard is in its final stages and is due to be wrapped up in the coming days.

Arsenal are kicking off their pre-season training this week as they ramp up preparations for the new season.

The main focus of the club’s pre-season is their tour of Singapore and Hong Kong, which the squad fly out for on July 19.

Arsenal will have matches against AC Milan and Newcastle in Singapore, before facing rivals Tottenham in Hong Kong.

They will then round off pre-season with two matches at Emirates Stadium against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Arsenal have already begun adding to their squad this summer, completing the signings of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Zubimendi last week.

Kepa has arrived from Chelsea for a fee of £5m, while the deal for Zubimendi is worth in excess of £50m.

Arsenal are working on a deal for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, who is reported to have agreed personal terms on a five-year contract.

Discussions with Sporting are ongoing over a fee, but Standard Sport understands the Portuguese club would currently not accept the suggested fee of €65m (£56m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons.

Arsenal have also been tracking RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, but reports in his native Slovenia on Monday afternoon have stated he will not be joining the Gunners.
