Arsenal could conduct a medical at London Colney to complete the signing of Bruno Guimaraes next week, according to the Daily Mail’s Isaan Khan.
Mikel Arteta’s side have reached an agreement in principle to sign the Gunners target in a £77 million deal.
The Arsenal manager is eager to bring top players to the Emirates Stadium club, and Guimaraes is desperate to move to North London.
A deal is close to being completed, and the Newcastle star could become an Arsenal player next week.
The 28-year-old is set to become the Gunners’ third signing of the summer transfer window after deals for French goalkeeper Illan Meslier and Greek winger Christos Tzolis.
Guimaraes has everything it takes to improve the Arsenal midfield, and it is clear to see why Arteta wanted him.
He brings much-needed Premier League experience and quality to the table, and the North Londoners could do with his attacking abilities.
Guimaraes bagged nine league goals and six assists in 29 Premier League games last term, creating 45 chances.
He was involved in 11 league goals in 2024-25, 15 goals in 2023-24 and nine goals in 2022-23, and his effectiveness in the final third will be a huge boost for Arsenal.
The Gunners are looking to retain their league title next season and also win the Champions League after last season’s heartbreak at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Signing the Brazil international will be huge and they are also expected to bolster their defence after a long-term injury to William Saliba.
