Arsenal face stiff competition to sign Barcelona man

Paris Saint-Germain are set to join Arsenal in the race for Ferran Torres as the attacker appears increasingly likely to leave Barcelona during this transfer window.

Fresh from scoring the winning goal as Spain became world champions a few weeks ago, Torres has seen speculation surrounding his future intensify. The forward has entered the final year of his contract at Barcelona and has been widely tipped to leave the Catalan club as they continue to strengthen their squad.

According to Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain have joined Arsenal in the race for Torres, with both clubs monitoring his situation closely. The report states that the Champions League winners are prepared to compete with the Gunners for his signature if Barcelona allow him to leave.

Arsenal face competition for Torres

When Robert Lewandowski was at Barcelona, Torres was primarily used as his backup whenever the squad was fully fit. Although he continued to contribute when called upon, regular opportunities in the starting lineup were limited.

Barcelona remain one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market this summer and have signed at least two new attackers. As a result, Torres could find it even more difficult to secure consistent playing time next season, increasing uncertainty over his long-term future at the club.

Barcelona hope to keep attacker

Despite the growing interest from other clubs, Barcelona want Torres to remain at the club and are still hoping to convince him to sign a new contract. However, his current deal is entering its final year, leaving the possibility of a transfer open if an agreement cannot be reached.

Torres has previous experience of playing in England after representing Manchester City earlier in his career. However, he may prefer to experience a different league rather than return to the Premier League this summer.
