Micheli, who first came to prominence after discovering Marek Hamsik more than two decades ago, has carved out a formidable reputation across Serie A. Hamsik himself once said: “I owe him a lot. He is the one who brought me to Italy for the first time.” That move from Slovan Bratislava to Brescia in 2004 would set Hamsik on course for a career that defined a generation at Napoli, the club where Micheli too left a lasting mark.

After unearthing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, among others, Micheli became synonymous with Napoli’s intelligent, forward-thinking recruitment model.
