Arsenal and Liverpool have both been credited with ongoing interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The two Premier League heavyweights are among the numerous sides looking to sign big-name strikers this summer. The likes of Newcastle United's Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko are expensive targets for a number of top teams.
With competition for an elite striker so fierce this year, clubs may need to get creative with their list of targets and Foot Mercato state Arsenal and Liverpool have done exactly that by stepping up their scouting of Ekitike, who had already been identified as a cheaper alternative to Isak.
Ekitike was seen as one of Europe's most exciting young forwards when he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2022, having been strongly pursued by Newcastle United, but he struggled to establish himself in the French capital and joined Frankfurt in 2024 in an attempt to reignite his career.

Still only 22 years old, Ekitike has done exactly that. He has struck 18 goals in all competitions this season - form that has caught the eyes of Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham United,
Already cashing in on Omar Marmoush for big money so far in 2025, Frankfurt are known to be prepared to sell any of their top assets for the right price and, while keen to keep hold of Ekitike, would entertain offers of around €80m (£67.2m) this summer.
In a recent interview with L'Equipe, Ekitike pledged his commitment to Frankfurt but acknowledged he now feels better-prepared to take his talents to one of Europe's elite.
"I now have experience and I score goals," he said. "I am focused on my club, but I know that if I want to reach a new level, I will be better prepared than before."
