While Real Madrid fans will be highly excited by the impending signing of the RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, another crucial operation that the Merengue club is currently engaged in is the renewal of one of their biggest stars, Vinicius Junior.
The Brazilian has only a single year left on his current contract, and despite prolonged negotiations between the two parties, they are yet to agree to a renewal. For now, these negotiations are set to resume in the coming few days, when Vinicius returns from his holidays, and this will be the decisive round of talks, after which the club will make a final decision about their star forward’s future.
In such a context, other European clubs have naturally started monitoring the player’s situation, and the Premier League side Arsenal is seemingly particularly keen to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding his future.
In fact, Mundo Deportivo cites The Telegraph to report that the Gunners are willing even to make the Real Madrid star the highest-paid player in their history to convince him to join their team. The winger is currently earning €468,000 weekly at the Merengue club, and the London side is willing to increase this sum significantly.
Backed by rich owners and competing in the Premier League, finances are not a problem for Arsenal. Thus, they are prepared to land their desired target either by paying Real Madrid a transfer fee or by paying the player a bonus, of around €80 million, if he ends up terminating his contract with Los Blancos.
It is easy to understand why Arsenal are ready to go to such lengths to land Vinicius Junior. Both Mikel Arteta, the head coach, and Andrea Berta, the sporting director, see him as the missing piece in their team who can lead them to Champions League glory, as he played a crucial part in the last two UCL titles for Real Madrid.
