Arsenal could be set for an unexpected financial boost this summer if former academy graduate Folarin Balogun completes a move away from Monaco.

According to talkSPORT, a number of Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the striker following his impressive performances for the United States at the ongoing World Cup.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, Coventry City, and Hull City are among clubs monitoring Balogun’s progress, making the Premier League his most likely landing spot this summer.

The 24-year-old is coming off a fantastic club campaign where his goalscoring prowess was on show.

He bagged 19 goals in 43 games across all competitions for AS Monaco, helping the Ligue 1 side secure Europa Conference League football with a seventh place finish.

Balogun has picked up where he left off at the World Cup, helping the US to reach the knockout stages for the third campaign running.

He already has two goals to his name and will hope to add to his tally when Mauricio Pochettino’s side take on Turkiye on Friday.

Balogun’s performances for the US have raised his profile and becoming the first US player to score a brace in a World Cup match since 1930 has undoubtedly raised a few eyebrows.

While Arsenal no longer have control over Balogun’s future, they’re still in line to benefit financially from his success, which is expected to pay off this summer.

Balogun left Arsenal for Monaco in 2023 in a deal worth around £34 million and the Gunners decided not to include a buy-back clause in the agreement.

However, Arsenal’s negotiators did secure an important sell-on clause.

Under the terms of the deal, the Gunners are entitled to 17.5% of any future transfer fee if Monaco sell Balogun before his contract runs out.

Monaco are reportedly open to offers and could demand around £43m. Should a club meet that valuation, Arsenal would receive roughly £7.56m without having to lift a finger.
