However, the Emirates Stadium club remain without Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Eberechi Eze and it remains to be seen whether they will travel to Portugal for the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup by Southampton in the quarter-final on Saturday, with a late goal condemning the North London club to a 2-1 defeat.

They will be desperate to go far in the Champions League and victory in the first-leg against Sporting will be huge.

Having the aforementioned trio back in action is a huge and timely boost after the disappointment from the weekend, and Arteta will be praying for more good news.

Sporting have been in fine form in recent weeks and are also challenging for their league title, and the Gunners have to be on top form against them.

Arsenal head into the game on the back of their first back-to-back defeats this term, and they could do with a win before Premier League action resumes.

They host Bournemouth on Saturday and will have to pick up all three points heading into their next league game – against Manchester City on April 19.

Newcastle United, Fulham, West Ham United, Burnley and Crystal Palace are their remaining league fixtures afterwards, and they may need to pick up all the points available to win the title.
