Bayer Leverkusen came painfully close to pulling off an upset against Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash at BayArena last week, but Die Werkself ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw after former Werkself player Kai Havertz equalised from the penalty spot late on.
Now, Die Werkself will head to Emirates Stadium looking to produce a surprise against the Premier League leaders, who are unbeaten in their last 13 matches across all competitions.
Leverkusen can take confidence from the fact that they have already stunned an English giant away from home this season, having claimed a memorable 2-0 victory over Manchester City earlier in the Champions League.
More recently, Kasper Hjulmand’s side caused Bayern Munich plenty of problems at the weekend, securing a 1-1 draw at the BayArena in a match that saw the German champions reduced to nine men.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are coming off a 2-0 win over Everton after Viktor Gyökeres and Max Dowman scored late goals to secure the victory.
The three points moved the Gunners another step closer to their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 season, and on Tuesday they will look to keep their dream of a maiden Champions League title alive.
Jurrien Timber is a doubt for Arsenal after being forced off in the first half against Everton. Martin Ødegaard (knee), Leandro Trossard (knock) and Mikel Merino (foot) remain on Arsenal's injury list.
For the visitors, Alex Grimaldo will return to the starting lineup after he sat out of the draw against Bayern due to suspension. Martin Terrier is a doubt after coming off at half-time against Bayern following a horror tackle from Nicolas Jackson.
Mark Flekken, Loic Bade (hamstring), Arthur (ligament), Lucas Vazquez (calf) and Eliesse Ben Seghir (ankle) are expected to remain unavailable for Die Werkself.
