Arsenal host Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tomorrow evening, with a semi-final clash with Chelsea awaiting the winner.

The Gunners have not been at their sparkling best in recent outings, but will nevertheless sit top of the Premier League at Christmas, and Mikel Arteta will hope to build on the good feeling in the club with a derby victory in the Cup.

Much to Oliver Glasner’s chagrin, this will be Palace’s fourth match in nine days, and the fixture congestion is starting to take its toll.

The Austrian made 11 changes for both of his last two outings and did not manage to win either, suffering a Conference League draw to Finnish side KuPS before enduring a humbling 4-1 Premier League defeat by Leeds. He could be without as many as seven first-team players for Tuesday’s match.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The match will take place at the Emirates Stadium in north London.

TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports Football, Sky Sports Main Event and ITV 1.

Both Sky and ITV will launch their coverage at 7.30pm ahead of an 8pm kick-off.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace team news

Both Arsenal and Crystal Palace will come into this fixture with a raft of first-team absentees.

Most notable among Arteta’s absentees is centre-back Gabriel, who is back in individual training as he recovers from an adductor injury. The Palace match will come too soon for him, though Arteta has suggested he could return before the turn of the year.

The same is true for Kai Havertz, who is expected to return to first-team training in the coming weeks, while Ben White could be out until the new year with a hamstring problem.

Compounding Arsenal’s defensive headaches, Cristhian Mosquera will be out until January, and Max Dowman is sidelined with an ankle problem.

Arteta is expected to rotate as best he can for the match, despite options being thin at the back. Gabriel Jesus and Cristhian Norgaard could be among those who get the nod, while Kepa Arrizabalaga should give David Raya a rest between the sticks.

Arteta’s problems rather pale in comparison to those of Glasner. He has lost Ismaila Sarr to AFCON, while key players Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada will both be out for a matter of months with knee and hamstring problems, respectively.

Rio Cardines, Chadi Riad, and Caleb Kporha are all unavailable, too, and Cheick Doucoure is yet to play this season as he continues to recover from a long-term injury.

Glasner named a youthful lineup to face KuPS last week, and could call on the likes of Joel Drakes-Thomas, Kaden Rodney, Dean Benamar, and George King again at the Emirates.

The demands of an intense festive period already look to be catching up with Arsenal somewhat. They were far from their best last time out against Everton, and very nearly dropped points against an abject Wolves side the week before.

But, in spite of a dip in form, they still find ways to win. So goes the old cliche, champions must be able to win ugly.

And that is exactly what Arsenal have done in recent weeks. With a two-legged semi-final bout with Chelsea serving as a proverbial carrot on a stick, they should have no shortage of motivation or quality to get the better of Glasner’s beleaguered Eagles.
