Manchester United legend has predicted plenty of “twists and turns” in the title race

Wayne Rooney has predicted Manchester City to drop points before Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Momentum is with Man City now after beating the Gunners 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to record a fourth victory in a row across all competitions since crashing out of the Champions League.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have won just once in their last six games - including back-to-back Premier League defeats - and will relinquish top spot if City beat Burnley on Wednesday night.

Should Man City claim all three points at Turf Moor, the title race will then come down to a five-game shootout with the possibility of goal difference deciding this season’s Premier League champions on the final day.

“I think it will be tight. They’re good fixtures for Arsenal, I think they will win all them games,” Rooney said.

“I think City’s fixtures are a bit more difficult, and I think Everton might take a couple of points off them.”

Rooney added: “This title race is not over yet, I still feel like there are some more twists and turns to come.

“It is is obviously going to be tight but City have got one more game to try to win, so I still have Arsenal down as slight favourites.

“I’ve been in this situation myself, where you need to win all your games for the title. You look at your games and you think well we should win this one, or that one, but it never pans out that way.

“From now until the end of the season it is just going to be down to which team keeps their composure the best – that’s who will win it.”
