Arsenal return to Champions League action tonight with a trip to face PSV Eindhoven.
Mikel Arteta’s men visit the Dutch champions in the first leg of their last-16 tie. The North Londoners are looking to bounce back from consecutive Premier League games without a goal. Dropped points to West Ham and Nottingham Forest have left the Gunners 13 points adrift of leaders Liverpool in the Premier League.
Europe offers another avenue to silverware, though Arsenal have a poor record in Eindhoven. Since winning their first encounter with PSV in the Netherlands in 2002, Arsenal are winless in four visits.
PSV beat Juventus in the play-off round to reach this stage but have endured a dip domestically. Peter Bosz’s side are currently four without a win in the Eredivisie.
Mikel Arteta continues to manage an injury crisis in attacking areas. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are out for the rest of the campaign, while neither Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli are close to returning.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is also sidelined with a knee issue, though Myles Lewis-Skelly is available after serving a domestic ban.
Leandro Trossard or Ethan Nwaneri could be given the nod at centre-forward, with the Mikel Merino experiment having faltered.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard: Nwaneri, Trossard, Sterling.
PSV Eindhoven host Arsenal in the Champions League’s Round of 16 on Tuesday 4th March 2025. Kick-off in the Netherlands is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.
