Arsenal's opening bid for Bruno Guimarães rebuffed

Newcastle United have reportedly turned down an opening offer by Arsenal for midfielder Bruno Guimarães.

The Brazilian, who is currently on international duty at the 2026 World Cup with Brazil, has been linked with both Manchester sides in recent months but is now a target for the Gunners.

According to various reports, the Premier League champions attempted to open talks with a £55 million bid for the 28-year-old, which has been immediatelyturned down by the North East club.

It could be another tough summer for Newcastle United in a quest to keep their star names. Indeed, the Magpies have reportedly already turned down advances for Sandro Tonali from Arsenal's rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Last season, Bruno Guimarães played 41 games for Newcastle in all competitions, scoring nine goals and making seven assists.
