Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta confirms Riccardo Calafiori remains a doubt for Sunday’s North London derby against Tottenham: ‘He’s another one where we’ll have to wait another day.’

Calafiori suffered a calf injury during a Nations League game between Italy and France this past Friday. This means he may not recover in time for Arsenal’s North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday.

Calafiori started against France but was unavailable for the following match against Israel on Monday.

Gabriel Jesus and Martin Ødegaard are also injured for Arsenal, and Arteta said he’d have to wait for one more training session on Saturday to assess them.

The same goes for Calafiori.

“He’s another one where we’ll have to wait another day,” Arteta said at a press conference on Friday, as quoted by Football London.

Calafiori has made two Premier League appearances as a substitute since joining the Gunners on a permanent €50m transfer from Bologna last summer.

The latest match against France was only his sixth appearance with the Italy national team.
