At the time of writing, Arsenal have six players known to be dealing with injury problems: Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Leandro Trossard.

Jesus is still out for the long term, but Mikel Arteta gave largely positive updates on the other five in his press conference on Thursday.

The big news was the update on Gabriel, Timber, and Calafiori, with Arteta suggesting all three will be fit in time for the Manchester United match on August 17th.

“I don’t think [they’ll still be unavailable], they’ve been involved in the last few days,” Arteta said. “So Gabriel, Calafiori, Timber, the three of them will be available.”

The news on Kepa also seemed to be positive, with Arteta admitting he might even have played the goalkeeper on Thursday if it had been a competitive fixture.

“He felt something as well in the game against Newcastle,” Arteta began. “I think it’s a matter of days probably – if that was the Premier League he could have played but we decided not to take a risk.”

The only real concern is for Trossard, who was forced off just 17 minutes after coming on against Spurs. Arteta played the injury down as a “little tweak”, but added that they’ll need to run further tests on the winger.

“He felt a little tweak, I think he tried to turn and he was pushed and he felt something muscular so we’ll have to assess him,” Arteta said.

If the assessments go well, it may only be Gabriel Jesus still missing by the time the competitive matches start up again.
