Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted his side’s title hopes do not rest on this weekend’s result at Chelsea.

Arsenal make the short trip across the capital to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, searching for a first league win in over a month. The Gunners have gone three Premier League games without a win to fall seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool in the title race.

After consecutive seasons of challenging for the title, Arsenal are in danger of falling behind the frontrunners this season.

However, Arteta said he is not thinking about whether the club’s title hopes would be in jeopardy with a negative result this weekend.

“I don’t think about that,” the Spaniard said at his pre-match press conference.

“Nobody works harder than me, I guarantee you that. We don’t need a reset. In one particular aspect we need to go from 95 to 100. I will not tell you what that is.

“It will not require 100 points this season. It will require perfection to keep winning.”

Arsenal head into the game having lost consecutive fixtures to Newcastle and Inter Milan without scoring. Arteta opened up on the atmosphere inside the Arsenal dressing room and said his squad is still full of belief that this season will be successful.

“When you don’t win, it affects the mood and energy. There is nobody in this room or outside that wants to win more than I do or the players do. That is impossible. I sense a big belief in what we do as a team.

“You go in there this morning and think how they are going to feel and they are there. They are paying attention, they are hungry, they want to work. Their desire is unbelievable. They are a joy to work with.”
