Eintracht Frankfurt have made the Belgian defender’s loan move from Stade Rennais FC permanent, with Theate signing a contract until 30 June 2029.

Arthur Theate joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais FC before the start of the 2024/25 season, quickly establishing himself as a permanent fixture in Dino Toppmöller’s side.

The Belgian, who represented his country at every youth level from the Under-15s and made his senior international debut at the age of 21, has started all but one of the Eagles’ Bundesliga fixtures this season after making his debut for the club at Borussia Dortmund on the opening day of the campaign. The 24-year-old has also appeared in seven of the club’s eight UEFA Europa League games so far this term – playing the full 90 minutes on six occasions – as well as making one DFB Cup appearance.

After being handed his senior club debut for Belgian side KV Oostende as a 20-year-old, Theate went on to make 31 appearances in Serie A for Bologna, scoring twice. He made 82 appearances in all competitions for Stade Rennais over the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns, finding the net on eight occasions.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “Since his arrival at Eintracht, Arthur has shown how much potential he has. His will to win and professional attitude make him an important player for us, both on and off the pitch. We’re delighted he’s staying in Frankfurt for the long term.”
