AS Monaco’s Brazilian defenders Vanderson and Caio Henrique will be out for several weeks after hamstring injuries suffered in Friday’s 3-1 Ligue 1 loss at PSG. They will miss France v Brazil on 26 March in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the United States, part of preparations for the World Cup.
Vanderson went off in the 15th minute at the Parc des Princes. The club said tests revealed a significant left hamstring lesion that requires surgery. He will travel to Finland shortly for the operation.
Monaco have not put a timeframe on the 24-year-old, who has seven caps for Brazil, and say the aim is for him to be fit to play at the World Cup, which begins on 11 June.
For Caio Henrique, 28 and capped five times, the injury is less serious and does not require surgery. His lay-off will be shorter than Vanderson’s, but he still faces several weeks out.
Vanderson has suffered recurrent hamstring problems.
