A deal for Alejandro Garnacho has been agreed, and the expectation was the Blues would sign Xavi Simons, but that is now looking unlikely.

Barcelona don’t think Chelsea target Fermin Lopez will leave

Chelsea have been tracking Simons for the majority of the summer, and the 22-year-old has been waiting for the Blues to make a move.

Simons has turned down advances from other clubs so far, and it had been reported the Blues would move once Christopher Nkunku had gone.

Nkunku has left for AC Milan, and Chelsea still haven’t made a bid, and it now appears Simons is closing in on a move to rivals Tottenham.

However, Chelsea are interested in Barcelona midfielder Lopez, although no offer has gone in, and Romano has provided an update on the situation.

“Chelsea likes Fermin Lopez, and he’s on the list,” he told his YouTube channel.

“They are aware of the situation, many players in his position!

“At the moment there is no bid, and Barca doesn’t see him going and has the feeling he won’t.

“As of now the player’s not said ‘let me go’.”

Chelsea could end up with just Alejandro Garnacho

Lopez is similar to Simons, but is arguably more of goal threat and slightly more versatile, but Chelsea could end up with neither.
