Michael Carrick has reportedly welcomed both Lisandro Martinez and Shea Lacey back to training as he prepares for the resumption of Premier League action.

Lisandro Martinez sets sights on Leeds return

It was claimed on Tuesday that Martinez had begun being put through his paces on the grass with individual sessions as he eyes a return in time to face Leeds.

His addition to the squad would be vital, as Harry Maguire will be serving his one-game suspension following the red card he was shown against Bournemouth prior to the break.

Should Martinez be deemed unable to feature, it would leave only Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro as first-team centre-half options for Carrick, and, while they are capable, it would undoubtedly be an area Leeds would look to exploit due to the pair being so young.

In the meantime, UtdDistrict revealed last night that Lacey was back involved at Carrington.

The 18-year-old was granted his long-awaited debut earlier this term in the defeat to Aston Villa, before playing again in a six-minute cameo during the closing stages of the draw with Burnley.

Lacey, whom Rio Ferdinand hailed as a ‘breath of fresh air’ back in January, has yet to add to his three senior appearances (one of which came in the FA Cup) under Carrick.

The only time he has made the squad since the interim manager took the reins was when United hosted Fulham at Old Trafford on February 1, and he was an unused substitute, although he has been completely unavailable for the most recent matches due to his injury setback.

It remains to be seen if the attacking starlet will feature again before the culmination of 2025/2026.
