With the transfer deadline approaching, Celtic’s pursuit of Bodo/Glimt forward Kasper Hogh has gathered further momentum following new information on the player’s potential asking price…

Journalist Mark Hendry via TCW has indicated that the Norwegian champions would be looking for a fee in the region of £6 million to consider parting with the striker during the current window.

The 25-year-old has built a strong reputation in Scandinavian football over recent campaigns and elevated his profile significantly after finding the net twice in a surprise 3-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City last week.

That display has helped attract wider attention, with Celtic facing competition from Norwich City, who are now under the management of former Ibrox coach Philippe Clement.

Bodo/Glimt are preparing for a major European encounter against Atletico Madrid this evening, and Hendry suggest discussions over any potential transfer may become more realistic once tonight’s fixture has been completed.

However, should Celtic wish to finalise a deal before the deadline on Monday night, the club may have little choice but to align with Bodo’s valuation.

Hendry’s update places the expected fee close to the £6 million mark. While that represents a notable investment, it is not viewed as prohibitive if Celtic decide the striker is a priority target.

Time constraints could complicate negotiations, with only a short window remaining to reach an agreement.

Celtic would need to move quickly to stay ahead of Norwich’s interest, while also persuading both the selling club and the player that a switch to the Hoops represents the best progression for his career.

Like Bodo/Glimt, Celtic themselves are in European action this week. A victory for Martin O’Neill’s men against FC Utrecht at Celtic Park tomorrow night would secure the Hoops a place in the knockout playoffs.

A draw might still be enough but a defeat would spell the end of the road for Celtic in Europe for another season.

FC Utrecht have suffered a run of five consecutive defeats and are already out, so anything less than progression to the next stages would be a complete nightmare.
