Asmir Begovic is attracting interest from Sheffield United and Bolton after leaving Leicester City this summer. The 39-year-old goalkeeper is a free agent following the expiry of his one-year deal.

He joined last summer and made 12 appearances as the Foxes were relegated to League One. Talks over a new contract followed the 2025/26 campaign, but he confirmed his exit on social media last month.

In his farewell message he thanked staff and supporters, added that he was fortunate to meet amazing people at the club, and wished Leicester well as he moved on to a new challenge.

"An incredibly challenging season, an absolute disaster in a way, nothing that would have anyone would have expected." Speaking on the Clutch 9 podcast in association with Betway, he said.

"When you look and take everything into consideration, it seems to be a bigger picture problem. Obviously, it's been going on for a little while and it's difficult sometimes to turn that tide. When it goes negative, it turns quickly."

"It's a cycle of losing and that cycle of how we just couldn't turn it. You were going into games with a positive mindset and you play well and come up with a draw. How do we not win that?"

Begovic is weighing up his next move ahead of the new season.
