Aston Villa and Everton among six clubs eyeing move for Barcelona forward

Barcelona are making moves towards several signings, but they must also ensure that departures are secured in order to balance the books. The likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Inaki Pena and Marc Casado have been earmarked as candidates to be moved on, and another that looks set to leave during the upcoming transfer window is Roony Bardghji.

Having joined Barcelona last summer from FC Copenhagen, Bardghji found game time difficult to come by during the 2025-26 season. Lamine Yamal played the vast majority of minutes when he was available – understandably so – and because of this, the Swedish winger struggled to make much of an impact, although he was generally impressive when called upon.

Given that Bardghji’s minutes are unlikely to go up next season, Barcelona have opened the door to an exit – but the likelihood is that only a loan will be considered, as they want to retain full control over his future. In the event that he does leave, a move to the Premier League appears to be most likely, with TEAMtalk (via MD) reporting that as many as six clubs from England are eyeing a summer move for the Sweden international.

Aston Villa, Everton, Leeds United, Brighton, Brentford and Sunderland are also interested in Bardghji, who is also likely to be willing to go out on loan this summer in order to play regularly. His lack of minutes contributed to his exile from the Sweden squad for the 2026 World Cup, which was a particularly painful blow for the player.

Barcelona will hope that an exit for Bardghji can be concluded sooner rather than later. They do have more time to get it done, as their plan to replace him with Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has been pushed back until after the World Cup, with the Portuguese having decided to delay a decision on his own future for the time being.
