Opposing manager: Natalia Arroyo

Natalia Arroyo was appointed as Aston Villa’s Head Coach on January 22, 2025, to keep the Villans in the WSL.

The Spanish coach exceeded those goals and ultimately guided the club to a sixth-place finish, largely thanks to an impressive end to the season that saw them win five games in a row.

Prior to her taking the job in the Midlands, Arroyo had found success in her native homeland of Spain, where she guided Real Sociedad Femenino to a second-placed finish in the Primera División during the 2021-22 campaign.

Two seasons later, and she almost lifted competitive silverware for the first time as a manager when she took Sociedad to the Copa de la Reina de Fútbol, but they were well beaten 8-0 at the hands of Barcelona Femení.

Previous meeting

It was a comfortable and historic 6-1 win for Jeglertz’s the last time these two sides met at the Joie Stadium, when a fantastic four set of goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw saw the striker reach 100 with City.

Despite the score seemingly close after Lucy Parker pulled one back for Villa to make it 2-1 in the second-half, City were ruthless thereafter.

Strikes from Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema after the break helped City cruise to their 10th league win in a row.
