Aston Villa have held internal discussions over a move for Harry Wilson, per the Daily Mail. The Villains spoke extensively about signing him towards the end of the season.
Wilson is emerging as a genuine summer target for Aston Villa as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking depth ahead of a demanding campaign.
The Spanish tactician has been keen on bringing in wingers for some time, and he will have a massive say in who the club signs.
Wilson is out of contract at Fulham and is attracting widespread interest after an impressive season, with Aston Villa hoping to fend off Leeds United.
They are also monitoring the Wales international closely and are prepared to offer him a more prominent role.
They are potentially guaranteeing regular starts that cannot currently be assured at Villa Park.
Wilson delivered a productive Premier League campaign last season with 10 goals and seven assists across 36 appearances.
Villa must now do everything possible to convince the incredible Wilson that Aston Villa Park is the right next step in his career.
Villa’s pitch must instead focus on project, ambition and European football.
Financially, the club must also remain disciplined due to Premier League profit and sustainability rules and UEFA spending controls.
He represents the kind of value-driven signing that should define their recruitment strategy this summer.
Wilson’s output last season shows Premier League quality without the inflated transfer fees that have been associated with wide players this window.
Securing him on a free transfer would allow the Europa League champions to strengthen depth while preserving flexibility for other key positions in the squad.
It is worth noting that the Midlands club is keeping tabs on other wingers, such as battle-tested Harvey Barnes and young prodigy Ibrahim Mbaye.
Meanwhile, Emery enjoyed a working relationship with the rapid but often frustrating Gabriel Martinelli, who is on the market.
