Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on another summer signing
Sheffield Wednesday’s work on rebuilding their first team squad is well underway following the long-awaited change in ownership last month.
The group led by David Storch, Arise Capital, completed their takeover of the Owls during the final weekend of the regular campaign.
And they are now set for a busy summer of transfer activity, with Henrik Pedersen working alongside the new sporting director Simon Wilson to identify targets and complete signings.
The Yorkshire outfit will be hoping to get back to a competitive level after a disastrous season on and off the pitch, which led to their relegation to League One.
The club finished bottom of the Championship with zero points due to being docked a combined total of 18 by the EFL.
So they are starting from a very low base this summer, as life under Arise Capital begins with purpose.

It has been reported by The Athletic that the structure of the deal to sign Sil Swinkels from Aston Villa will include a matching rights clause.
It’s understood that the Premier League side must be notified in the future of any offers that come in for the 22-year-old, who is closing in on a permanent switch to Hillsborough.
The Midlands outfit will be afforded the opportunity to match any bids that arrive, essentially giving them a route to bringing back the Dutchman in the event that he develops into a top flight talent.
Swinkels spent last season on loan at both Exeter City and Chesterfield, making a total of 29 appearances across League One and League Two.
The centre-back featured seven times in the third tier, but earned more consistent game time with the drop to the fourth division in January.
Sheffield Wednesday supporters are pleased to see the club moving in the right direction in terms of bringing in fresh faces for next season, and are excited by the prospect of adding someone young and with potential to grow.
Some fans were even able to catch some of his performances for Chesterfield last season, and are optimistic he can contribute at a League One level.
Meanwhile, others are far more concerned with coming up with a fun song that utilises his fun-sounding name.
Sheffield Wednesday have already confirmed the addition of Ricardo Santos, and plenty of further signings are expected before 1 September.

So now is as good a time as any for the club to get creative with their transfer agreements, and this is a great example.
They’ve been able to win the race to acquire Swinkels over a number of other EFL clubs without needing to pay over the odds.
And if he becomes good enough that Aston Villa are willing to meet any possible transfer offers, then it’s likely he’s become quite valuable to Sheffield Wednesday, so this is a win/win for all parties.
