Aston Villa ‘interested in’ Ruben Vargas | OneFootball

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Aston Villa are interested in Switzerland winger Ruben Vargas, and Sevilla would consider a sale only at or above £17million.

The 27-year-old impressed at the World Cup, scoring two goals as Switzerland lost in extra time of the semi-finals to Argentina.

Brighton and Newcastle have also been credited with interest in Vargas.

Reports indicate Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye will not be joining Villa this summer. Unai Emery has tracked the 18-year-old, who has been regularly involved with the first team, but a move to Villa is considered unlikely and the player is said to have been offered to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Villa have also been linked with Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, though the 23-year-old is attracting interest from PSG and Juventus.

Juventus are assessing goalkeeper options and have also looked at Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, with Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti claiming Martinez wants to leave. The Midlands club have maintained they do not want to lose the experienced shot-stopper.
