Aston Villa join race to sign Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo | OneFootball

Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Lille OSC forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo (21), according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri. 

Fernandez-Pardo, whose natural position is on the left of the attack, although he also played through the middle towards the end of the season, recently declared for the Belgium national team and recently made his World Cup debut with the Red Devils.

Even before the World Cup, interest in the forward was growing. Como, who next season will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, are in the race, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport. There is also interest from the Premier League in the form of Manchester United and Manchester City, the Italian publication addded. 

Foot Mercato have cited Liverpool as a potential destination for Fernandez-Pardo, valued at €70m. Aston Villa have now joined that growing list. There has been contact between the player’s representatives and the Birmingham-based club. Aston Villa’s scouts are currently in the US observing the player.
