Sunderland face competition from Leeds United and Aston Villa to sign Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji in the summer window.
TEAMtalk reports Leeds are well positioned and long-term admirers, with Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Everton also interested. The 20-year-old former FC Copenhagen winger is said to be open to a loan, and Barcelona are looking to clear room after securing Anthony Gordon and exploring possible moves for Marcus Rashford, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva.
SportsBoom claims Aston Villa are now the frontrunners, with negotiations expected to accelerate in the coming days.
Sunderland are working to strengthen Regis Le Bris’ squad after Europa League qualification, with greater depth viewed as essential for a busy campaign.
After the final-day win over Chelsea, Le Bris said he does not expect a repeat of last summer’s upheaval. He accepted there are areas to improve and stressed recruitment will shape the season, while judging how players adapt is never simple. He added the club’s structure has improved and their scouting scope is now wider.
