Aston Villa are close to signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Ibrahim Mbaye.
The Villans identified Mbaye as a potential target before the end of last season following his progress at PSG.
Despite signing Tammy Abraham as a back-up to Ollie Watkins in January, they remain in the market for a new centre forward.
Mbaye has emerged as one of the best teenage strikers in Europe, attracting interest from several top clubs.
The 18-year-old has already become a regular for Senegal and is expected to feature at this summer’s World Cup.
He broke into PSG’s first team in 2024 and became the youngest player to start a game for them.
However, he has been struggling for game time. He made 31 appearances across all competitions last term, starting just 11 of them.
Mbaye’s chances of getting more opportunities could become more difficult next season, with PSG looking to sign a striker. They have been linked with Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.
A move to Villa could also present the same challenge, with Watkins and Abraham ahead of him in the pecking order, given their greater experience and quality.
Villa are also considering a move for PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. A move could depend on Emiliano Martinez’s future. He is on Juventus’ radar.
Chevalier joined PSG last summer as a replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma, who had joined Manchester City.
The French goalkeeper produced several unconvincing performances and was eventually replaced by Matvey Safonov.
Villa are also considering a move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
