Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush remains of interest to Aston Villa after the Birmingham club tried to sign the Egyptian in January, as per a new report.

The 27-year-old has found consistent starts hard to come by at the Etihad Stadium during the 2025/26 campaign, despite hugely encouraging performances, albeit sporadically and largely in cup competitions.

Despite a prolific record for Egypt – most recently netting twice during the Africa Cup of Nations and a run to the semi-finals – Omar Marmoush has largely been utilised as a rotation option by Pep Guardiola, appearing in 17 Premier League matches but starting seven.

His technical profile and deadly reputation in front of goal, however, has made him a primary target for several high-flying Premier League sides, and Aston Villa – who are currently battling for a top-four finish – have long admired the forward’s ability.

Aston Villa maintain Omar Marmoush pursuit

As reported by Gary Jacob of The Times newspaper, Aston Villa remain interested in Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush after attempting to sign the Egypt international in January prior to securing Tammy Abraham’s services.

The Midlands club were eager to bring in Marmoush during the mid-season window to provide competition for Ollie Watkins, and while a deal failed to materialise at the time, it appears Unai Emery remains unconvinced that his attacking options are complete.

What is next for Omar Marmoush?

With Manchester City currently in the hunt for a domestic Treble – further bolstered by their midweek 1-0 win at Burnley to send them to the top of the table – Etihad Stadium officials are unlikely to entertain exit talks until the season concludes.

However, the Egyptian’s desire for a guaranteed starting role could be the catalyst for a move, and scouts may look towards City’s remain domestic cup action starting with an FA Cup semi-final meeting with Southampton as opportunity to watch Marmoush closely.

If Aston Villa are to land their man, they will likely have to meet a valuation far in excess of £50 million – a figure City would demand for a player contracted until June 2029, and a star they invested heavily in just over one year ago.
