Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has left the England camp and will miss tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
The Villa star sustained a knock against Wales last Thursday and has yet to recover fully, prompting the Three Lions to let him return to his club.
Watkins scored to help England stroll to a 3-0 victory over Wales. Villa teammate Morgan Rogers opened the scoring after grabbing his first senior international goal.
Villa return to Premier League action on Sunday with a trip to face Tottenham Hotspur.
They headed into the break on the back of a 2-1 victory over Burnley – their second league win of 2025-26 – and they will be desperate to continue from where they left off.
However, the Midlands club may need to do so without Watkins, and manager Unai Emery will hope other attackers can step up in his absence.
The 29-year-old has scored just once in ten appearances across all competitions for Villa this term, and his goal against Wales was a huge personal boost.
Watkins was withdrawn at half-time against Wales after colliding with the post late in the first half after missing a chance.
The Villa star hobbled away after receiving treatment and was replaced shortly afterwards, and Emery will now be sweating on his fitness ahead of the trip to London.
The Villans started 2025-26 on a disappointing note, failing to win any of their opening six games across all competitions.
They have won their last four games and could do with a victory over Tottenham this weekend.
